We also do valuations of classic cars for insurance company's.
EXTRA TAX (BPM)
In the Netherlands you have to pay an extra tax on cars, motorcycles and motorhomes next to road tax when they get a Dutch registration. This tax is called BPM ("Belasting Personenauto's en Motorvoertuigen") which means Tax on Passenger Cars and Motorvehicles.
You have to pay BPM when you buy a new car or when you want to import a new or used car to the Netherlands from another country. This is a "one-time" tax, so you just pay it once when you buy a new car or import one used. You also pay road tax every month.
The BPM is calculated in different variations during all the years this tax has been applied.
When you import a car to the Netherlands and you want a Dutch licence plate you have to pay BPM. Also, when you drive on the Dutch roads longer than 2 weeks on a foreign licence plate, you have to pay BPM and road tax as well (according to the tax office) when you are registered in the Netherlands.
Because of the many rules and regulations this isn't a real easy process. We are experts in this process and we can help you to complete the process in an easy way.
Sometimes it's even possible that you don't need to pay the BPM when you want to register your car if you meet some specific conditions.
